Be part of Te Papa’s new Taiao | Nature exhibition
Film your friends or whānau taking action for the environment and you could be part of Te Papa’s brand new Nature exhibitions.
We know you’re out there! Beach cleaners, tree-planters, rat-trappers, climate crusaders… Show New Zealanders what’s possible when you put your mind to it – and inspire them to do the same.
Te Papa’s new Taiao | Nature zone opened in March 2019. It’s the first renewal of this popular area since the museum opened 20 years ago. In our new exhibitions we show inspiring footage of diverse, ordinary New Zealanders caring for the environment in all sorts of ways.
You, your whānau and friends can be in on the action.
Why take part?
You’ll be inspiring millions of visitors to take action for nature – onsite at Te Papa and online.
Your story could appear on the Te Papa website.
12 of the best videos will be shown in the exhibitions themselves. Too cool!
Here’s what to do. Easy as 1, 2, 3
1. SHOOT IT
Get out and film your action.
Film one or two members of your group, doing what they love.
5 minutes is heaps. A mix of close ups and longer shots is good.
Film outdoors, not inside (unless your work happens inside). If you like, you can talk about what you’re doing as you go.
Use a good quality smartphone, or a video camera if you have one.
Film in landscape format – phone on its side.

2. SAY IT
Tell us what you do, and why you love it
Use your phone to record a short (up to 3 min) interview with the one or two people you’ve filmed. This can be just audio if you prefer. Use the questions on the next page.
Film wherever you feel comfortable - inside if you like.

Tips for the interview:
Don’t prepare or script your answers – just be yourself.
Record on your phone anywhere you feel comfortable, ideally inside so we can hear your voice clearly. Don't worry - we just need to hear the information rather than need to put your interview into the video!
